Kingdom Day 2020 Details

Hero Quest Kingdom Day is a simulation designed to help our youth grow, have fun, and develop character and strong friendships with other quality youth.  Kingdom Day is a Youth Leader only event; there is no Summit for 8-12 years old this year (we hope to be back to normal next year!).  Please make sure to read the information below thoroughly and contact us if you have any questions.  All registered Youth Leaders MUST RSVP through the form below.

Time and Location

Hero Quest Kingdom Day will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the American Fork Amphitheater at 850 E 700 N, American Fork, Utah.  This is a one-day event only for registered Youth Leaders and Volunteers. 

• 8:45 AM - Master Knights and Princess arrive and check-in.  Be ready for a huddle at 9:00 am.  
• 9:00 AM - ALL youth leaders arrive.  Please be on time and ready to participate fully.
• 10:00 AM - Event Begins
•  5:30 PM - Debrief (required part of the event)
•  7:00 PM - Clean-up then visiting time
• 10:00 PM - everyone out of the park

NOTE: We are asking ALL youth and volunteers to help with clean up, take down, and loading.  Socializing will happen only after clean up is finished.

Health Department Requirements

We are required to know who is attending our event.  You MUST RSVP through this form so we know you are coming.  You will check-in as usual at our check-in tent.  You will be asked if you have illness symptoms.  Please do not attend if you are sick.

Similar to normal Hero Quest activities, we will keep youth generally in their houses (smaller groups).  When we are all in the throne room (amphitheater) we will be spread out.

Utah County Health Department requirements state that social distancing should be observed, or masks worn when that isn’t possible.

We will have designated volunteers at water stations to help you refill your water bottles to keep things sanitary and wipe things down as needed.

Bathrooms will be sanitized hourly and hand sanitizer will be available in bathrooms and at water stations as well.   

Food and Water

We will NOT have a feast this year.  You will need to bring your own food for lunch, snacks, and dinner.  You MUST have your food with you.  Food deliveries are not an option. 

A labeled water bottle is essential to keep you hydrated.  We will have designated volunteers at water stations to help you refill your water bottles to keep things sanitary.

Packing List and Dress Code

Every youth leader needs to be prepared in order to have the best experience possible.  We frequently experience all four seasons in one day at this time of year and it is crucial that you are prepared for heat and for cold.  Kingdom Day goes on, rain or shine.   

Packing List

Please bring the following, in a backpack or bag with all items clearly marked with your name:

• Water bottle
• Your own food - No food will be provided this year.  House mentors will have coolers if you need to keep your food cool.
• Sack Lunch - Be generous, you will be very hungry.
• Sack Dinner
• Snacks
• Warm jacket (check weather forecasts to see if this is necessary)
• Rain poncho (check weather forecasts to see if this is necessary)
• Good shoes - Even though the girls will be wearing dresses, you need to have supportive shoes that cover your toes.  Shoes are required to be worn at all times while on the premises.
• Umbrella - For shade in the amphitheater especially
• Sunscreen - We cannot provide it for you this year.
• Weapon - If you need to borrow a weapon, please contact someone in your family or house.  We cannot lend them this year.

Terra Libre Costume Details

Young Men can simply wear a t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt (layer as needed for the weather) and pants.  Athletic pants or cotton slacks are better than jeans.  No shorts and no inappropriate slogans on shirts.  Medieval style shirts are always welcome.  You must wear shoes, and closed toed shoes are required.

Princess: 

A princess is the epitome of feminine grace and beauty. She is a fierce warrior of God, who knows who she is and what she stands for; she has a strength of character found in Handmaidens of the Lord.

Dresses/hair/make-up must conform to the modest dress standards found within the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

A Princess should wear a long, full-length dress, along with her flower crown. This dress should not have long trains, draping/flowy sleeves, or large “hoop” skirts.  She should wear closed-toe, supportive shoes that are suitable to outdoor use, and running around the park.  Long, full-length skirts can be worn if needed, but dresses are the preference.  She will be loaned additional role-specific costume pieces to wear the day of the event. A princess is the epitome of feminine grace and beauty. Lady-in-Waiting:

Lady-in-Waiting and Flag Bearers are graceful, beautiful, and have a strength of character found in Handmaidens of the Lord.

Dresses/hair/make-up must conform to the modest dress standards found within the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lady-in-Waiting and Flag Bearers are graceful, beautiful, and have a strength of character found in Handmaidens of the Lord.

Ladies-in-Waiting should wear a long dress but may wear a mid-calf length if full length is not desired or available. This dress should not have long trains, draping/flowy sleeves, or large “hoop” skirts.  She should wear closed-toe, supportive shoes that are suitable to outdoor use, and running around the park.  Skirts can be worn if needed, but dresses are the preference. She should consider wearing a bag so that she can help her princess carry her necessary belongings. She will be loaned additional role-specific costume pieces to wear the day of the event.

Her hair and make-up should be tastefully done. Her hair should be a naturally occurring color and she should not have any visible tattoos.

Flag Bearer:

She will be loaned additional role-specific costume pieces to wear the day of the event.

Valkyrie:

A Christathel Valkyrie is a fierce warrior of God, who knows who she is and what she stands for.

Dresses/hair/make-up must conform to the modest dress standards found within the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. 

She needs to be able to run and fight, so she should wear a skirt or a dress that is at least fingertip or knee-length with leggings/light pants underneath.  (No jeans.) This dress should not have long trains, draping/flowy sleeves, or large “hoop” skirts. She will be loaned additional role-specific costume pieces to wear the day of the event. 

She should wear closed-toe, supportive shoes that are suitable to outdoor use, and running around the park.

Her hair should be a naturally occurring color. She may use her make-up to create “mock-tattoos” if they are lighter in color (gold/silver/tan) and created in an elegant fashion. 

She should not wear a corset or bustier that emphasizes her chest; however other light/leather armor (including bracers or a quiver) would be acceptable as long as it doesn’t get in the way of her duties. 

Parking

There are two available parking lots at the Amphitheater.  The lower west parking lot is available for drop off/pick up only.  For all parking longer than 20 minutes, please park in the upper north gravel parking lot or on the street to the east of the park (across the street from the temple).

As a Youth Leader, you agreed to abide by the Heroic Youth Code of Conduct by participating as a Youth Leader.  Please review before attending.
